I have been really putting thought into bullying.
Bulling is a harmful and useless thing that, bullies do. People who get bullied everyday (mostly as school) are so afraid of everyone and everything. They can't seem to stand up for themselves because the bullying just gets worse and worse as time goes on; and since they didn't stop it a long time ago, it get's harder harder to make it stop. Their life's go crazy and they don't know what to do with themselves. They often get angry and depressed. They never feel loved, wanted, good enough, pretty enough, cool, needed, the list goes on and on.
A lot of bulling is during the teen age years. Bulling can happen out of the blue, or could have been going on for years; but most teen victims of bulling usually turn to cutting, drugs or even suicide. And they need help, they need to know that it's okay, that things can get better and that turning to these things are not right; and on the flip-side, turning to Jesus is.
Also they need to forgive. One day, if the bulling is finally stopped, they should not hold a grudge on that Bully but rather forgive them. It can be a hard thing to do, but the bible say's we must forgive our enemies no matter what.
I'm so very thankful that I have many good friends that I can talk to if I ever did get bullied, but then again, it's not very likely I would; seeing I'm not surrounded everyday but pressuring teens.
See that's where Home School comes in. I'm surrounded by my loving family all day! And if I'm seriously having a bad day I can always talk to a family member or call a friend anytime :) (then go lazy around in my room and relax) lol xP But I'm just saying that I have time to cool down if I'm mad or depressed which is a huge benefit!
but I often wonder, if I did go to school, would I get bullied? I'm no good at sports, not pretty, no personality, you know...loser type. I think that I could easily become a victim of bulling if I did go to public school. and don't take this the wrong way, I don't use Home School as a hideaway/crutch, oh no! And I'm not scared of people either, ha, I love meeting new people and being in big crowds. So that's not the issue...
but! I know many awesome people that make Jesus the love of their life (as he is mine) which makes their/my perspective on life so much better. And So I always feel comfortable around them.
The Advantage? I can choose who I'm around! I can know my atmosphere and the people in it; and love it too!
See if I knew someone who was bulling me, I would have the opportunity to not be around them unless I wanted to. But if it was someone at a school, well then I'd have to be around these people. no way out. In Home School, I can seclude myself from unwanted put-upon's and surround myself with Christ loving people.
Although some bulling is in the own home (but I'm too tired to write about that right now. sorry.)
Now....to the Bully's.
I have not too much advice for a Bully (seeing I have never been one) but I think I know a few things that 'make' a Bully.
1. Their background: Their lifestyle, family, past, ect.
2: They are victims themselves: most Bully's have been (or are being) bullied themselves. They think bulling some one smaller/weaker than them will boost up their self esteem and make them feel bigger, that it'll solve their problem; but it won't.
3: Their self esteem: Usually a Bully feels bad about themselves and put's themselves down. Believe it or not, they usually feel like crap, all the time. So what they do is..say whats hurting them, to someone else; make someone else feel like they are worth nothing; so the Bully will some how "gain something".
I know that I might not be able to stop bulling alone, but the thing I can do, is pray. I think we should all pray. Pray that the bulling will cease. Pray that the Bully's will come to their sense's and the bullied will find hope. Hope in Jesus. And help. Help in Jesus. And love. Love in Jesus. Protection. Protection in Jesus. Help them to find their master in their time of need.
Matthew 5:43-45 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven..."
Matthew 5:38-41 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles."
Proverbs 6:16-19 "There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers."
May God's peace be with you all.
